Jamie and Patrick | An Astorian Wedding Part 1
If you happen to follow me on instagram you’ve seen a few sneak peeks of this wedding and today couldn’t have come soon enough.. the day I get to share Part 1 with everyone!
While Jamie and Patrick’s “first date” still seems to be up for debate, the fact they hold a deep admiration and respect for one another is certain. Jamie is one of the sweetest girls and she’s beautifully complimented by the kind hearted gentleman Patrick truly is.
Jamie and Patrick met and currently live in Atlanta, but she calls Houston Texas home and asked me to join her for the celebration - Texas style! Ya’ll know I love to travel and a return trip to Houston was welcome! When the forecast called for rain we got blue skies, sunshine and beautiful puffy white clouds- the absolutely perfect day for their wedding!
The Astorian is one of the most incredible venues I’ve ever had the chance to work in and there’s truly not a bad angle to be seen anywhere in the building! These two are good friends of Carolyn and Nick, one of my all time favorite couples and it was SO fun to not only get to see them in Houston, but also get to see another sweet couple whose wedding I photographed several years back too!
Ahh there were so many incredible moments I won’t soon forget but some of my favorite images you’ll get to enjoy below are the truly candid, documentary, in-between moments. Like her mom helping dad with his bow-tie, or the way she watched as Patrick got a minute in the “spotlight” and had his pictures taken, sharing in the quiet moments as she read his letter with tears of joy and moments to truly savor all he had to say, it was the moment the elastic inside closure pulled from the dress and most definitely the moment her daddy gave their blessing to the marriage as he handed her hand to Patrick. I had a little spare time before the ceremony and rather than shoot more details, I thought I would create a few portraits of their grandmas. Most of their grandfathers have passed and so you’ll see their grandma’s holding their own wedding pictures, as a way of honoring their loved ones would have no doubt, been so incredibly proud and happy to celebrate together too. Then there was Grandma Kaye, she heard us coming down the hall and opened her door to say hello! Her smile shined so bright throughout the night and she so much reminded me of my own Grandma Kaye! There were so many favorite bridals of Jamie and pictures of them together as well… it was SO tough trying to narrow them down to even the many shared below!
Aww the wedding party, such a great crew and easy to work with! They were the perfect mix of fun and getting down to business. :)
I’m so glad to say this is just the beginning and there will be part 2 later in the week!
