Dancing in the Rain | The Estate Wedding

It'd been sunny for weeks, beautiful eighty degree days but then there was rain in the forecast for Sunday. With all hope and anticipation that forecast would change, maybe it'd be just a shower- it's October- surely at some point we'd see the sunshine that day. Then Sunday arrived and it was windy, grey, dark, rainy and overcast, bouts of pouring rain- and yet when I walked into the bride's hotel suite I immediately forgot about how gloomy those skies were and was welcomed with smiles, hugs and such a beautiful excitement and a room filled with laughter.

I've loved these two since the day they came to the studio to meet and share about their wedding day. The story of how they met, the details of their proposal and the way they spoke of sharing this day with their family and friends. Relationships, family and celebrating the beginning of their forever story those were things that no storm, hurricane or stormy skies could alter.

What was to be a beautiful outdoor wedding at The Estate turned into a morning shared with her loved ones and a ceremony and reception at Flourish (due to weather and safety concerns with the gusting winds and down pouring rain). The Estate, Molly knew was ever so perfect as she walked up the stairs and was greeted by a familiar aroma. An aroma she knew well and immediately brought back memories and the love she shared with an aunt whom she wished with all her heart could have been there to share her day with would be there in spirit. I'm so glad and thankful Legendary Events was kind enough to allow us to do the pre-wedding photos and preparations there before moving to Flourish for the rest of their day!

Molly is exceptionally talented in many areas and one of these are drawing and "doodling". She hand designed all her invitations, programs and the paper suite herself. Including the drawing of The Estate!

She's loved and dearly cherished by the man of her dreams. Their first look is one of the sweetest I've ever witnessed. If I said I held it together behind the camera I'd by lying. With tears in his eyes before he ever caught a glimpse of his beautiful bride- emotion overcame them both with the anticipation of starting their day together.

Brian wrote and shared the most beautiful vows at their ceremony. He has a way of communicating and writing and writing this- Brian- I should have had you write the story of your wedding day. What a gift and how sweet a melody it was to hear as him share his vows and promises with Molly as they joined their hands and hearts together in their marriage.

What an incredible day it was to share with these two. Too many beautiful stories and moments to share in a single post- so you'll be happy to know the goodness will continue later this week with part two!

A huge shoutout to all the wedding professionals that helped make this day run smoothly despite the multiple change in venues, inclement weather and tight timelines. Teamwork is dreamwork and everything was perfection for these two and their sweet families!

A very special thanks to my assistant Ansley and to Molly for being a great second photographer as well.

As it sank in that this day was THE day she'd been waiting for... the tears came but not without a sweet moment being shared with her beautiful mama. Before we brought Brian out- we gave her parents a moment to take it all in with her...

Such gorgeous bouquets! Her dress was absolutely perfect for her.Meanwhile, Molly was in the wine cellar with the guys-Learning to tie their bowties. Then it was time for their moment. Such anticipation. Such love.We snuck outside for a brief moment. Pouring rain and 100% humidity made shooting through the condensation on the lenses a challenge at best- BUT knowing their invitations and wedding was designed around the beautiful frontage of this incredible venue and historic home- I knew this moment. This photo- perfectly imperfect and a moment outside on this patio would mean so much to these two as they look back on their wedding day. :)When we returned her sister was playing the piano and they took in a moment of signing together. Awww I didn't want this moment to end!

Once we wrapped portraits at the Estate we loaded into our cars- in the still pouring rains and headed across the street and down the block to Flourish. Loved these moments Molly captured.Ohh just wait until you see the beautiful reception and the stories and moments shared in their reception! Hurry back and see part two Thursday!
